Blizzard of '77 Travel Game (1977)

About this game

This game is based on the events surrounding the Blizzard of '77, which hit Buffalo, NY, in January of that year. To win the game, you must be the first to complete your day's activities on the day of the blizzard. Travel is easy at first, but the weather warnings pile up. When the blizzard hits, flip the board to the "Blizzard" side, where nearly every space contains an obstacle! This game features a double-sided board (Sunny Side and Blizzard Size) and weather cards that recount some of the actual events of the 1977 blizzard. The game was reworked for many other cities, including: Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Chicago, Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Minneapolis-St. Paul, Syracuse, Rochester, Providence, and Boston.

Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Works with 2 to 6.
• Rules load. At 1.8/5 this is a light game — explain it in a few minutes, good for a table that has not played much.
• Age. The publisher suggests 8 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
