Ironclads and Ether Flyers (1990)

About this game

This is a reprint of the old Ironclads and Ether Flyers. Ironclads and Ether Flyers is a set of 19th Century Aeronaval miniatures rules. It focuses on battles between seafaring battleships and aerial gunboats and is set in the Space: 1889 universe. The rule book covers not only combat rules, but also include scenarios as well as campaign rules. The rules detail aeronaval combat: movement, attacks, ramming and damage. Advanced rules address special weapons and vessels.

Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Strictly 2 players — no more, no fewer.
• Rules load. At 2.7/5 this is a mid-weight game — expect a proper rules explanation before you start.
• Age. The publisher suggests 12 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
