Movable Type (2016)

About this game

Description from the publisher: Movable Type is a card-drafting, word-building game. You can think of it as a little like Scrabble crossed with Sushi Go. Over a series of 4 rounds, players will draft cards and score words in order to build a victory pile. Impressive words may also earn the player author challenge cards, which give a variety of immediate and lasting abilities. In the final round, it will be the victory pile that provides the letters for their final mega-word and provides players with a chance to win the game. Movable Type is a family-friendly word game for up to 4 players. It rewards savvy planning - not just an extensive knowledge of words!

Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Works with 1 to 6. It has a designed solo mode.
• Rules load. At 1.8/5 this is a light game — explain it in a few minutes, good for a table that has not played much.
• Age. The publisher suggests 8 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
