1849: The Game of Sicilian Railways (1998)

About this game

Originally dubbed a game-kit, this 18xx offering involves laying track lines and purchasing shares within the entire island of Sicily (1849 to 1922). A more easily managed and quicker game of its type, but with a few different nuances.

Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Works with 3 to 5.
• Rules load. At 4.2/5 this is a heavy game — read the rulebook before people arrive.
• Age. The publisher suggests 14 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
