Viva España: A Game of the Spanish Civil War – 1936-1939 (1977)

About this game

VIVA ESPAÑA is a wargame,or historical simulation, that combines gaming techniques with historical data to duplicate conditions as they were at the time the actual events were taking place. The event simulated in this game is the civil war in Spain from 1936 to 1939, a conflict that attracted considerable interest throughout the world at the time, but has since been largely ever shadowed by the in incomparably greater events of the Second World War, which began shortly after the shooting ended in Spain. Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Strictly 2 players — no more, no fewer.
• Rules load. At 3.0/5 this is a mid-weight game — expect a proper rules explanation before you start.
• Age. The publisher suggests 12 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
