Stars and Bars (1984)

About this game

Stars and Bars is a wargame that recreates on an operational scale this Civil War battle [Oct 8, 1862, the Battle of Perryville, Kentucky. Union Gen. Buell against the Confederate Army of Mississippi and Gen Bragg]. Historically this was a victory for the South, although at a price of very heavy casualties. Published in The Wargamer Magazine # 30 with Lesnaja: 'The Mother of Poltava' September 29, 1708.

Does it fit your group?

• Group size. Strictly 2 players — no more, no fewer.
• Rules load. At 3.2/5 this is a mid-weight game — expect a proper rules explanation before you start.
• Age. The publisher suggests 12 and up. That rates the rules rather than the artwork, so judge the box yourself for younger players.
